Judge Bustamante serves as the current County Court Judge in Levy County, Florida.

Judge Luis Bustamante is a devoted husband to his wife, Mina, and the proud father of three adult children. He graduated from Atlantic High School in Delray Beach and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Florida Atlantic University in 1990. He went on to earn his law degree from Florida State University College of Law in 1993.

While in law school, Judge Bustamante worked for the Florida Bar, editing continuing legal education publications. He also interned at the State Attorney’s Office in Palm Beach County, where he served as a certified legal intern and tried numerous DUI and domestic battery cases—an experience that sparked his passion for prosecution.

Since earning his law degree in 1993, Judge Bustamante has built a distinguished career in public service, holding leadership roles in both the Seventh and Eighth Judicial Circuits of Florida. He served as a Division Chief and later as Chief Assistant State Attorney, where he led teams of prosecutors in the pursuit of justice across a range of complex and high-stakes cases. In addition, Judge Bustamante was honored to serve at the state level as an Assistant Statewide Prosecutor and subsequently as Chief Assistant Statewide Prosecutor. In these roles, he was responsible for prosecuting multi-jurisdictional criminal cases that spanned numerous counties throughout central and north Florida.

Judge Bustamante's extensive legal experience includes prosecuting a wide spectrum of serious offenses such as white-collar fraud, money laundering, racketeering, rape, sexual violence against children, arson, aggravated assault, narcotics trafficking, and criminal conspiracy. Over the course of his career, he has developed a reputation for fairness, integrity, and a commitment to the rule of law. In the final decade of his prosecutorial service, he was entrusted with the most serious and sensitive cases—those involving the death penalty—reflecting the trust and confidence placed in his judgment, legal skill, and sense of justice.

Beyond the courtroom, Judge Bustamante has been a dedicated community volunteer. He has educated citizens on how to protect themselves from crime and trained law enforcement on effective evidence collection to ensure justice is served.

Judge Luis Bustamante brings a lifelong dedication to justice, public service, and community advocacy to his role on the bench—and to his campaign.
